Early childhood is a critical period of rapid physical, cognitive, and psycho-social development of a child. Research reveals that 80 percent of human brain development takes place between conception and age 4.
To mean, the quality of care and education which a child receives at this crucial age will determine to a great extent the level of his/her physical and cognitive development in the future.
However, with increased poverty levels mostly in developing countries, most children do not attend functional, effective and professional early childhood development initiatives needed.
As a Foundation, we have been supporting and, we will continue to support more public crèche, kindergarten, and nursery schools managed by the government through community efforts; support enforcement of the use of mother tongue in the teaching of children; support the training more personnel in the field of early childhood education in tertiary institutions; and support government in introducing unified curriculum as well as providing more infrastructures.
Remove every barrier facing communities in raising and taking care of their children—especially those from conception to the age of 5—so that the children grow in an environment that can best support their physical and cognitive development.
Work with government and non-government institutions to ensure that by 2030, all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education.
